About Us

The Association of Texas Leadership Programs (ATLP) is a state organization of community leadership programs, graduates of community leadership programs and affiliate organizations. ATLP was created in April 1990 in Tyler, Texas during a leadership conference hosted by the local leadership programs in East Texas. Within six months of that date, over 40 people from across Texas banned together to form the 501 (c) 3 organization. ATLP founders recognized the need to support Texas leadership programs and to assist in the creation of new programs, serve as a networking avenue, and provide educational opportunities to improve the communities in our great state of Texas through strong viable community leadership programs.

Organizational Structure

The Association is directed by a Board of Directors representing various leadership programs across the Lone Star State. The Board implements the goals and policies of ATLP, and determines the location of the annual State Conference. The State Conference presents information to participants in developing and improving leadership programs, creates opportunities to exchange information and provides a forum to promote cooperation and rededication to all forms of leadership development. The State Conference is held annually, with the site moved from one Region to another on a rotational basis.
